| Paul Tompkins' short film, Hollywood Photos of Katie Mills, is an official entry in the upcoming Damah Film Festival to be held at the Culver City Studios in Los Angeles, May 4th through 6th. The festival is known for highlighting "Spiritual Experiences in Film." Moreover, the film was nominated in both the "Best of 15 Minute" and "Best of Show" categories.
The film is a morality story centered on a young actress seeking movie fame who must consider a Faustian bargain with a photographer. Will she hold to her convictions or do "whatever it takes" to land the perfect role? It's a film about faith, conviction, and temptation. Tompkins said, "It's an honor to have your film screened at any festival but a particular tribute to be a part of the Damah Film Festival because of its underlying spiritual theme." Area residents desiring to see "Hollywood Photos of Katie Mills" will have the opportunity on Thursday, April 26 at 8:00 pm at the Bare Bones International Film Festival in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where it has been nominated for the Best Micro and Best OK Soil film awards. Oklahoma University student, Sara Foster, playing the character of Katie Mills, has been nominated for Best Actor. Winners will be announced during the 2007 Awards Gala starting at 6 pm on Sunday, April 29 at the Roxy Theatre. (www.barebonesfilmfestivals.org) Oklahoma City's deadCenter Film Festival has accepted the film for screening in June 2007. In January 2007, the short film received a Grand Goldie Film Award from the Goldie Film Awards International Film Competition in Florida. The films that score from a 9.0 - 10.0 in judging each receive the top award for excellence and expertise. Hollywood Photos of Katie Mills was 1 of 12 films that received above a 9.0. The film was selected in the top twelve out of nearly 500 entries in the Manhattan Short Film Festival that screened worldwide in September of 2006. Tompkins wrote, directed, and produced the short film entirely in Oklahoma along with his wife, Deborah. Kent Jones was co-producer and editor. Their company, CrazyFish Films, is in development to produce their first full-length feature film, There Goes the Groom, a screwball romantic comedy. |
